Fairway Aviation Academy’s fleet comprises of a comprehensive range of premier training aircrafts that are staples amongst aviators in the world.
The Cessna 152 is an American two-seat, multipurpose civil aircraft with fixed tricycle gear undercarriage ,used for general aviation primarily for flight training and personal use. The air plane was introduced in 1977 by Cessna Aircraft Company , USA.
Soon after its humble beginning the airplane started gaining popularity among the leading flight training schools around the world, which resulted in production of 7584 Cessna 152s by 1985. The Cessna is still recognized as one of the safest pilot friendly training airplanes in the world and is used by Civil and military operators alike .
Its side by side seat configuration allows the trainee to monitor the instructor’s demonstrations very easily and the Instructor/trainee communication can be carried out direct man to man without the use of head phones . The flight deck instrument panel consist of easy to understand fight and engine instruments and a VHF radio transceiver to communicate with air traffic control . Our Cessna aircraft are transponder equipped too, which enables air traffic controllers to positively identify the aircraft in the sky which is considered as an important and essential safety feature.
The Cessna 152 is powered by single Lycoming horizontally opposed 4 cylinder engine, 110 hp (82 kW) driving a 69-inch (175 cm), two-blade, fixed pitch McCauley propeller.
You are sure to enjoy your flying in this cute machine which may take you at speeds close to 125 miles per hour ( 200kmph ) and at a height of 14500 feet ( Flight level 140)
The Cessna 172 nicknamed “Skyhawk” is a four seat, single engine, high wing, fixed-wing aircraft made by the Cessna Aircraft Company. First flown in 1955, the 172 became an overnight sales success, and over 1,400 were built by the end of year 1956, its first full year of production.
More than 60000 Cessna 172s have been built by Cessna and its partners to meet the great demand, and today the Cessna 172 holds the record for most number of single type of aircraft being manufactured.
It is still being manufactured by the Cessna Company and most probably, as statisticians predict, may reach the 100000 mark in the future. These figures alone are quite adequate to prove the popularity and success of this aircraft .
Fairway Aviation Academy has very proudly added this machine to its fleet to offer its trainees a unique experience in what is accepted globally as the best trainer aircraft ever produced. Like its little brother the Cessna 152 , the Skyhawks internal and external features are pilot friendly which gives a trainee a tremendous advantage over the other types of training aircraft.
A Cessna 172 was used in 1958 to set an all time record for flight endurance, flying non –stop for 64days , 22 hours 19 minutes and 5 seconds . You can consider yourself as very fortunate to fly this beautiful machine which may take you at speeds close to 140 mph (226kmph) and soar above the clouds well over 13500 feet.
The Cessna 172 is capable of flying non stop for 696 nautical miles , which means you could fly the length of Sri Lanka non –stop three times if you wish.
The Cessna 172 is powered by Lycoming 10 -360-L2A. Four cylinder, horizontally opposed engine of 160 hp (120 kW) and dives a two bladed Sensenich metal propeller.
